HDV Programme Overview
An overview of the Heavy Duty Vehicles programme area
About the project
- Modelled scenarios consistently point to HDV efficiency as a cost-effective way to reduce emissions
- Limited options for low-carbon fuel alternatives
- To achieve the programme objectives the programme was split into three main phases
- Furthermore, the HDV vehicles were split into two main categories - land vehicles and marine vessels
- The intended outcome was therefore market confidence in the components, systems and vehicles / vessels as developed by the programme. The ETI intended to influence all of the necessary elements of the supply chain to achieve a step change in HDV efficiency.
- The following diagram explains how the ETI used a ‘Systems’ approach to ensure an optimum solution which considered all of the various levels of the vehicle / vessel supply chain.
