The University of Edinburgh have undertaken a pilot study for the ETI on the current activities and future impact of local engagement in UK energy systems.
Their report provides the first geographically comprehensive overview of local energy activity across the UK. Local authorities are seen as critical contributors and catalysts for future energy provision in the UK. As part of the study the team from Edinburgh has been able to identify and analyse local authorities activity in the area of energy and categorised their positions, showing that nearly a third of authorities are actively planning and investing in energy productivity and provision.
