ETI's response to Government's CCS competition announcement
21 March 2013
David Clarke, Energy Technologies Institute CEO, commenting in response to the Chancellor of the Exchequer’s announcement (on 20 March 2013) that two preferred bidders had been accepted in the Government’s Carbon Capture & Storage Commercialisation programme competition.
"We welcome the announcement by the Government, which marks another step forward in the creation of a CCS industry infrastructure in the UK. We see CCS as a key lever in holding down future low carbon power generation costs whilst sustaining energy security through enabling the use of globally available fossil fuels, but it is still in its infancy. The projects announced will provide the industry with even more enhanced knowledge to develop it further for the benefit of UK plc."
