Andrew Green, Programme Manager for CCS at the ETI, said:
“We welcome the announcement today of the funding for the Front End Engineering Design (FEED) study for the White Rose Project as part of the UK’s Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) Commercialisation Programme Competition. Our modelling work shows that in any transition to a low carbon energy system in the UK, CCS is a critical lever. But to make that a reality we need to advance the industry and that involves the demonstration of the technology at scale. So the news that this project is progressing to a FEED study is a real boost to CCS as an industry in the UK. The next decade will be vital for CCS to prepare itself to deliver large scale deployment. This Commercialisation Programme Competition sits at the heart of providing confidence to markets and industry to take these important next steps forward. We look forward to the announcement of funding for the FEED study for the second project at Peterhead.”
