ETI seeks organisation or prime contractor to develop software for a local energy system design tool
20 June 2013
The ETI is seeking a single organisation or a prime contractor for a project to develop a suite of software tools for designing local energy systems.
It is the first major step on the ETI’s journey to building a comprehensive design capability in this area. The ETI will use the suite of design tools to work with local authorities and other partners to develop practical, cost-effective local energy system designs that contribute to the UK’s energy and climate change goals.
The software suite includes an Energy Supply Networks Planning Tool, providing practical and cost-effective optimisation of energy supply network choices, in addition to a Building Design Tool, identifying the optimum approach to supplying and controlling energy in domestic and commercial buildings based on consumer preferences.
A Request for Proposals (RfP) has been published. The project is part of the ETI’s Smart Systems and Heat (SSH) programme, launched last year by the Prime Minister, David Cameron. The programme focus is to deliver efficient heat and comfort to meet local requirements across the UK.
