The Energy Technologies Institute (ETI) has welcomed the Energy Saving Trust’s in depth study which believes that in the right home, air source heat pumps could earn householders, around £1,350 a year.
The research has been part-funded by the ETI. Simon Hyams, the ETI’s Business Development Director for its Smart Systems and Heat programme, said: “We welcome the findings of this research. The demand for heat and energy in the future has to be better understood and we have to find better ways of managing and delivering heat in a cost-effective, clean and secure manner. Heat Source pumps are just one of a number of technologies which we will need to understand better to enable this to happen. This will be essential in fulfilling our aim of launching the first of a kind smart energy system for the UK.”
The ETI’s Smart Systems & Heat programme aims to deliver efficient heat and comfort to meet local requirements across the UK.
